The fire that broke out in the late afternoon in the town of Brignoles spread across about 100 hectares.
Aerial firefighting operations continued until nightfall. Their efforts, combined with the mobilization of ground crews and the lull in the wind, helped slow the fire’s spread.
Firefighters are currently deploying their hoses to continue their ground operations against a fire that is still active. These operations will continue throughout the night.
Two firefighters were injured, one from heat exhaustion and the other from a fall.
The latter was transported to the hospital in Brignoles.
